Bruce Stuckman, PhD

Bruce has personally authored and prosecuted over 1,500 patents to issuance, many of which have been successfully sold, licensed, or litigated. The IP analytics firm Patexia ranked Bruce in its top 25 for patent prosecution based on performance metrics for 28,843 patent practitioners from 2019 through 2023. 


As Chief Patent Counsel, Bruce founded and managed the patent programs for Ameritech Corporation and SBC Communications (AT&T) while overseeing the patent program for Cingular Wireless (AT&T Wireless), reaching multibillion-dollar IP valuations for all three entities. The IP management subsidiary he co-founded for AT&T achieved over $180M in licensing revenue in its first year. He negotiated the IP terms of numerous M&A transactions, joint development agreements and venture capital investments. He has also directed the IP portfolios of four other multibillion-dollar companies and has served the U.S. on the National Knowledge and Intellectual Property Management Taskforce.


As an entrepreneur, Bruce has founded, managed and advised many startups in building and monetizing their IP portfolios. Prior to practicing law, Bruce was a tenured Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Louisville. He has been published more than sixty times and has lectured dozens of times at various universities, professional meetings, conferences and symposiums. Bruce is himself an inventor on over 130 issued U.S. patents.
